Over 20 years ago, my husband David and I began rescuing homeless kitties with the intention of finding homes for them. In no time though, bonds were formed and most became part of our family. Our ninth rescue was Mr. Max. He was a tuxedo tabby who one day just "showed up" and decided to stay. Max was about 6 years old then. He was a wise old soul whose presence had a profound impact on the other members of our kitty family.
We were fortunate to have had Max with us for the next 6 years.
In 2004, he lost his battle with cancer. The loss of Max was felt deeply by everyone in the household. I wanted to do something that would keep his memory alive in a special way. That's when I created the name cat9mom, which would become the name of my pet sitting business.
I was not familiar with the concept of pet sitters until someone left a flyer on my mailbox. Normally, I just toss out such solicitations, but this one piqued my interest and I decided to hang onto it for future reference. The next time I traveled, I called the gal who left the flyer, and she became my pet sitter! I was very pleased with her services, and I decided that I wanted to become a pet sitter myself.
Rather than work for an agency, I wanted to run my own business. I became licensed and insured in the state of Georgia in 2004.I work the business myself, and my husband is my backup. I do not have contract employees.
